Probability

At a 4-D lottery counter, Johnny wants to buy his lucky number "3791" and Samuel wants to bet on his unique number "0000". Johnny feels that Samuel is wasting his money as his number is very unlikely to win. Do you agree with him? Why?

Johnny shouldn't feel that way. Cos' the Government 4-D doesn't allow '0000' this number.
Unless the Samuel goes to a bookie. ^^

Probability of the 2 numbers are different if u see it as ALL NUMBER DIFFERENT,2 PAIR,1PAIR 2 DIFFERENT,3 SAME,4 SAME.Then the chance of getting 0000 is much lower.

when the number draw is by a machine..and if a number is drawn out...it is placed on the top...which make the chance of getting the 4 same numbers is hard..

I agree, because the probability is like 1/9999...most probably there is no chances of winning at all...

The probability for Samuel to win maybe very slim. But if he is real lucky enough, he may strike because the number is chosen by the machine which has randomize numbering and it is not consider as an invalid number.

he can win of course if the government really allows this number'0000',but the chances of winning is very very low unless he buys a lot of different numbers at the same time hehe. By the way, why you still ask this question when u alr know what people will answer ^.^!

Hi,

I feel that the probability of getting both numbers are equal.
